Funny Videos

Just a funny video. It's a little long, but so cute! http://vimeo.com/16404771

Also, I think people need to see this. It is quite appropriate during this Harry Potter time as well. I really hope everyone in my family has seen this, it's a classic! When I was in marching band, everyone in my section loved both Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. During the football games we would sit there and get bored (go figure, it is football.) So, we'd sing this song. I always did Hermione. I especially love Harry's part. And the ending. Haha!

Dimples, Butt-Chins, and Butts

So at 1:00 am last Friday night, Jen, Scott, Lisa and I were hanging out. Here's an example of one of our many conversations we had. I thought it was hilarious....hopefully you do too!

Lisa: Mary, I like your dimple.
Mary: Well, thanks!
Jen: Scott, do you have a dimple in your chin?
Scott: Uh....(not much response)
Mary: Oh, yeah, you do have a butt-chin!
Jen: A butt-chin? How rude! That sounds horrible....Mary, what if we said you have a butt-cheek?

...............................................

BAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Love it. We have some good laughs out here.

AUTUMN!

Here are some pictures of the mountains that are so close to Provo from my front door. Well..this first one isn't from my front door....but during winter these mountains are completely covered in snow. They are so big and close, I can't wait! But the others show the pretty colors of autumn right now. I love fall!

Sweeet Carolyyyyn. Good Times Never Seemed So Good!

So Carolyn came to stay with me Saturday night through Sunday evening! It was a blast. so here are some pictures documenting our grand times. They are also to show how dang good lookin we are. Haha.

We went to Kohls and took some modeling pictures. Lesson learned: I seriously need a leather jacket.
Notice the price tag. Ha!

A poor woman ran into us during this one. It was a tad bit embarassing. But only a tad bit.

And just a nice one of the two of us. Yay for cousins!

Later that night we had a singin' and bustin' the moves party. It was pretty cool.
As Carolyn entitled it: this is Carolyn and Mary....being Carolyn and Mary. :)

A Guilty Pleasure

Warning: Most of you don't care about this kind of stuff at all, so don't feel like you have to read it. Maybe the first two paragraphs just so you understand. Or read them all to partake of my hair wisdom! (Amanda, you do have Lily after all. She will need to know these things someday. :) Amber..I think you'd like this stuff....but I don't know.)

I love hair products. The hair aisle at the store is one of my favorite places! I'm sure someday when I actually have money to spend I will love it even more. I always have to exercise my self-control and not buy tons of things each time I'm there. Recently, though, after buying a new one (that wasn't so great after all (the Wonder Waves spray=lame) I noticed how many I have. I felt a bit sheepish as I counted them all. Especially since most of my roommates don't have any, or only have hairspray. But I have all those?! That just seems ridiculous. This doesn't even include my shampoo and conditioner that I'm weirdly picky about. But, as long as I have them all, I thought I'd give a very brief review of them in case you were dreaming of new hair products like me, since I do have extensive experience with them.

In general: if you have fine hair, never never never buy the gel stuff. Even if it says "light and will not weigh down hair!" Lies. It totally does. Go with mousse! Now that stuff is great. The new stuff I bought recently was a spray even lighter than mousse to get your hair to hold its waves. It doesn't work so great. Maybe a nicer brand, but don't buy Fructis Garnier, it doesn't work very well at all. Not worth the moolah. Or, just stick with mousse.

However, need some more volume? That XXL stuff (3rd from the right) is the bomb.com. Haha, I love it! Just rub some into your roots before you blow dry and walah! Your hair isn't so flat (not by the roots, which is where you want body.) It's great.

The one on the very right and the very left I use everyday. The one on the right is pretty good, but not as good as I expected. It's a "nutrient" spray for your hair. I thought it would make it shiny and a little less frizzy, and it does that to an extent, but not as much as I think it should. Don't buy it, just go straight for the glossy-hair spray stuff. The stuff on the left is a cheaper heat-protectant. It works great and I love it. They smooth out your hair too, so it's doubly useful! I've sadly run out of this in the last few days so will have to get some soon.

And last but definitely not least: hairspray. Garnier Fructis is the best! Really, it holds great and it smells gooooood. I bought the Suave cause its cheaper, but I miss the other stuff. I probably will go back to it once I'm out of that can (like months from now...sigh). If you aren't broke like me, buy the Garnier Fructis hairspray. You will find yourself smelling your own hair all day. And no, that really wasn't much of an exaggeration. You will.

I love BYU

So, last week I had a test in my Chemical Engineering class. The test was made available for us to have after it was graded, so I can actually put this on here. How many places out there have this as part of the directions for the test?

"Now, relax, take a deep breath, and have faith in your abilities. Pray and ask Father to help you recall what you have studied and learned. Ask him to help you avoid simple mistakes. Finally, make sure to spend the most time on the problems that are worth the most points."

I love that here at BYU, not only are we encouraged and expected to live the Honor Code (dress standards, word of wisdom, honesty, etc.) but our professors encourage us to pray and ask for help. Most of my classes begin with a prayer, and in some that don't my professor has told us that we should have a personal prayer before class starts to understand the material better. I feel so incredibly blessed to be here at BYU. We have general authorities as our university presidents, prophets and apostles come here regularly to speak, and many of our professors are in stake presidencies and bishoprics. Ah! :) So awesome.

Hare Krishna!

So, a few weeks back I went to Indiafest with some of my roommates and friends. There is an Indian temple about a half-hour from Provo, and they hold festivals and celebrations for holidays there pretty often. Well, this time it was Indiafest, and to be completely honest I'm not even sure what holiday they were celebrating. They did show this crazy play though, about this demon that kidnaps this girl. The girl's husband comes and saves her and destroys the demon though. For that part in the play, the shot fireworks at a huge paper demon and it caught in flames! :) It was awesome. Here are some pictures!

The Demon!

It burst into flames! Loved it...reminded me of my chemistry class explosions. :)

Then it just kind of sparked and lamely burnt to nothin'. Actually, thinking about it I'm pretty sure one of the demon's heads and arms survived the inferno of doom.

After the slaying of the demon, the band started playing. It's the same band (and songs) that they played at the Festival of Colors I went to in May. Same lyrics and all. They use all different tunes, but always these words:

If you can't read it, well then just take a listen. My video got it on video!

Fun night! HARE KRISHNA EVERYONE!

Karl's Clone

So, I had this guy as my Sunday school teacher when I was about 13. He is about 6'6", large build, talks like Karl, laughs like Karl, and jokes like Karl. It is so weird! I stumbled upon his wife today, and did some ultimate creeping, and here it is. Amber and I have talked about it before. It's really, really strange.

Here's one of Karl just for some comparison. I tried to find one that looked a ton like Joe, but I just don't have many pictures of Karl.

Bouquet of Sharpened Pencils

School has started...again. I just counted out of curiosity, and this is the 19th time that new classes have started in my life. I suppose it should be boring by now, but it's still a bit exciting going back to school at the end of summer with lots of new people, classes, and teachers. Don't you love (Provo) in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would buy you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. That is basically how I feel about fall. I. Love. It. :) It is just better than spring. I'm excited for the mountains to be covered in reds and yellows, for sophisticated peacoats and pretty scarves. And Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are coming up. Winter semester is full of snow and death. Bleh. But fall? :) Love, love, love.

As for my classes, they are good, though they are going to be a ton of work. Which I knew, so definitely no surprise there. I wasn't planning on taking any dance classes, but it actually worked out, so I'm taking 2. I was just going to take 1, but I couldn't decide which one to do. And I'm auditing them (meaning I don't get a grade, I'm just allowed to attend), so it double doesn't matter. I'm taking Beginning Jazz and Beginning Contemporary. I love them both, but my Contemporary teacher is really good, and that kind of dance is so different than anything else I've done it'll be really fun. For those that don't know, which I assume are most of you, contemporary is more "dance what you feel", though it still is structured. We've been learning about how to move your body and all that. The first day of dancing we started out by walking in random directions around the room (to music) and then she called out a body part and we had to "explore" how to move it. Sounds weird, but it was fun and I'm excited to get out of my comfort zone for this class. And I'm taking Jazz with Jen so that'll be fun.

So I saw Eclipse for the first time on Friday, cause it's finally in the dollar theater here. That's the only way to watch movies in Provo, who pays the $10 when you can pay $1.50? Seriously. There's not any question there, of course you wait for the cheap one. Anyhow, I actually liked it. They included most of the important information, which is nice to see finally. The acting was tons better as well, so you weren't distracted by any of Bella's weird breathy stammering, or Edward's awkward expressions. (Though he still walks weird, haha.) Anyhow, Provo was the place to watch it, the best thing about the movie was possibly sitting with the audience. We all laughed at the same things (even if it wasn't meant to be funny). The best time, though, was when Edward way saying that he wanted to wait till marriage and that it's not the most modern idea. Bella then says, "Yeah, it's ancient." A guy in the audience then yelled out, "It's eternal!" Ha! It was sooo funny, the entire audience was laughing for a while over that one. Gosh, I just love Provo. Where else would that happen?

Also, I saw Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday morning. Before y'all start judging, it was edited. They have an International Cinema here on campus, they show international movies weekly. Anyhow, this one was soooo good. Sad it was rated R, they only edited one tiny part (that wasn't even necessary!) and bad language. So dumb. But the story was excellent. If y'all ever come across an edited version of that movie, I would suggest it. :)

That's Right, Sisters Rule!

As you go to the BYU homepage, they always have a few articles that are showcased. These are typically about new findings that some BYU people found, and a lot of them are actually really interesting. I liked this one in particular, especially as I am a sister to 5 spectacular people. So, to all 5 of you, yes, you are welcome! :) Haha, and I suppose I should thank you too. :) Oh, you guys rock.

Movies

This post is gonna be about some good, and some not-so-good movies that I've seen lately. Best ones first!
How to Tame Your Dragon. Oh my goodness, this was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I really really liked it. It had suspense, fantasy, vikings, dragons, and a little bit of romance. The flying scenes were really well done, it made you feel like you were almost there flying with them. Dang, I want a dragon so bad now! You all need to see it. I might even buy it, it was sooo. Oh. I loved it. :)
Inception.....this was just...interesting. It was made very well. And really was extremely interesting, you were sucked into the story right away. Instantly having to think and keep up with the story, there was not a moment you could sit back like, "Huh. That's weird." Which sounds stressful, but was actually really fun. I really enjoyed the intricate story and complicated idea. I think I need to watch it again to really decide if I liked it though, which I probably will. Let's be real, I like most movies.
And lastly, Letters to Juliet. It was really fun, just like all typical chick flicks. :) It was dorky, overly cheesy, and the ending...oh my, oh my. :) But I liked it, it was fun.

Life

School! That has been mostly what I have been doing lately....or at least what I've been trying to do. Summer is quite an exciting place here in Provo. I've kinda decided I'm not going to do this again, summer classes are not so fun.

I love Provo in the summer, everyone just plays and does exciting things, and everything is warm and beautiful! I've decided I definitely like heat over cold. Summer can stay forever as far as I'm concerned. Do you hear that world? Winter is not allowed to come this year. Now that we have that settled....

I've been going to FHE this summer, which I've actually never really done before. But when your roommate is the mother and your group is actually pretty cool, you find yourself wanting to go. It's been a ton of fun actually, I have loved it! We played soccer last week, which I actually enjoyed. I wasn't expecting that! But I was somewhat decent for it being the first time playing soccer since the sixth grade! I didn't completely suck at frisbee either when we played that. :) Fun times. I've decided at our family reunion we are going to have to do these fun things...preferably on a beach.

Warning: You May Be Blinded by Pure Awesomeness

I hope you've all seen Kung Fu Panda. Cause that movie is awesome, and also is the inspiration for my sweet title. There are a few awesome things ahead. Don't worry though. There is no charge for awesomeness...or attractiveness. And I'm sure you'll think these next pictures are attractive indeed!

BEHOLD! WE ARE MEN!! (Haha, insert Men in Tights here. That was kinda the type of men we were most like I bet.) Here are all three pictures....yes I know I have the same expression. So I could never be a model, whatever. But Jen is fabulous in them all. It goes from left to right: Me, Heather, and Jen.

First off, those are Jones soda bottles. But now the story. It started when Jen came in said, "Mary, let's dress as men, beards and all!" or something to that effect. I thought this was a great idea, and since Heather was there, we recruited her too. It was way fun to paint on our beards with eyeliner. Surprisingly though, what helped more than the mustaches were the sideburns and especially the eyebrows. When our eyebrows suddenly grew bushy, then we truly looked manly. It was great! We had man-names too! I was Mario (hence the sombrero), Heater was Heath, and Jen was Juan. We practiced walking and talking like men too, which was almost better than drawing on the beards in the first place.
And now for some newly found wonderful things:
Frozen grapes. They are so gooood! They are hard like ice on the outside, but kinda gooshy/slushy in the inside. Yum! Also, it's great when your grapes are about to get too soft that they are no longer suitable for complete enjoyment. (I only like grapes really crunchy.) Perfect solution.
My roommate cooked the tastiest chocolate cookies ever. They are super easy: one box of chocolate cake mix, 1/2 cup of oil or butter, and 2 eggs. Mix it up, and maybe you can add some chocolate chips. Cook at 350. They are so easy and so good!! Yum yum yum.
Other wonderful things: watching Star Trek on a huge flat screen tv with surround sound.
: swimming on a hot day while playing some of the games from when I was a kid.
: FHE on Monday. Family feud. We won. Host in a tux. Commercial breaks that included Julian Smith videos. Awesome.
: Work breaks that last an hour. Supervised breaks I might add. :)
: Mangos. I bought some for the first time today. It. was. epic. ...kinda.
: my newest nephew Luke!!!!! He is super cute and I love him already. Can't wait to go out to CO in a few weeks to see him! Also, Shayla could be born any day now...I'm excited to see her too. I'm going out to CA this weekend to be with them.
Anywho, I think that's it. Life's been good. Summer's fun. School starts in like 3 weeks, and I'm kinda ready. It'll actually be nice to get back to a life that has purpose.

To Be A Leader

Hey everyone, so I'm not in the mood to go to bed, though it is late and I definitely should. I'm just full of hopes, goals, and dreams right now, and since it is too late to call Mom and gush, I'm doing it here. Sometimes I just need to talk and get it off my chest, but if I talk to someone in person (like a roommate) I just feel cheesy, and it's a lot easier to feel cheese-free when I'm writing on here.

I have so many things I want to do in my life...it feels like I will run out of time to do them all! I want to get married and have a family, but I want more than that. I want to leave this world knowing that my life, and the life of my future family, made a difference in the world. I know that being a good mother is a wonderful and meaningful life--I do believe that motherhood is the most important calling I could have. But, I also believe that I can do more than that, and I can teach my children to be more than that too. During my senior year of high school I did a project on extreme poverty throughout the world. It is very real. Suffering is real. As I did that research, I really felt the drive and desire to change the life of at least one person in those circumstances. To give them a chance to help themselves, to not feel hungry or cold, to have the comfort of knowing their child can actually have a better life than they had. And then there is this class here in the College of Engineering that I want to take so bad. For a year you work on teams of engineers (of all kinds) to design things that are needed in poverty-stricken areas of Peru, Tonga, or Ghana. They've done projects like installing bio-filter toilets for sanitation, economical ways to convert coconut oil to diesel fuel, and installing plumbing. I want to do that soo bad! What worth will my knowledge have if I don't DO anything with it? I mean, really. Who cares about some gas company in CA, when these people can't even get clean water?

Tonight I saw The Blind Side. That woman is a doer. She is somebody who sees a need, and fills it. She has made a life for herself that has put her in a place so that she can do something. I want to be like her. It's not quite my nature to be all crazy proactive, but I need to be. I want to be. I want to not waste my time, I want to really work at school. I want to become a doer. I will have to if I want to make a difference.

So, first thing on my list to do to make a difference: I'm going on a mission. It's pretty much decided. I've been thinking about it since the beginning of December. Things happened, God showed me things, uncommon things, just so .... well, I know I need to go. It's at a time in my life when a lot of things happen. I'm giving up school, friends, and family for 18 months. But giving 18 months of my life to God isn't much. And I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true, and the most important thing I can do right now in my life is to share that with others. It will help teach me selflessness and responsibility, which will definitely help in my goals of changing the world. So for all of you that didn't know. :) Now you do.

If we all just broke out of the bubble of our own little lives, think of what we could do! I am determined. :) Let's do it guys.

Summer's coming!

So, I finally have some of the pictures from the Festival of Colors! I swear, we looked more colored in person. :) It was a ton of fun, good memories!
Here's the group! The girl kneeling on the bottom (Liz), the girl with the crazy bright blonde hair (Tasia), and the girl second from the right (Kim) are some future roommates! It'll be great. :)

The Hindu Gods are so stern! We thought we'd go with that theme...

Um, look at the mountains. Another great thing about Provo.

This has been finals week, and it's been nice to get to go home and NOT go to class. :) Of course there is studying, but there is also lounging. This is a pretty common scenario with Amanda, Jen, and I...and notice that they are both lounging on me (also, pretty common):

Summer will be official in four days! It'll be great...warmth, the sun, swimming, no school.... :)

Starting New

Hey everyone,

So I'm actually changing my blog to this one: www.maryataglance.blogspot.com. This is just because of weird email/logging in annoyances. I've been wanting to do this for a while, so it's finally done! Yes! :)

Anyhow, sorry about the pain. But I won't be using this one at all anymore.

Chuck

So, I'm just in the mood to write something, and the thing I am most passionate about right now(which is kinda pathetic as you will soon see) is Chuck. Before you get excited, this is a fictional character. Haha, I know a couple of you were getting a bit too excited as usual. :) This Chuck is Chuck Bartowski, aka Agent Carmichael. That show is sweet! The characters are funny, weird, quirky, and for the most part dang good lookin'. Well, the episode tonight was exciting like always, and ended like always....freaking me out! Seriously tv people!? Can't you leave me one night feeling happy and content about the ending of the episode, looking forward to next Monday? No. NO, you have to have me freaking out that Sarah Walker is about to be meet her DOOM. And thus causing Chuck to be heartbroken and commit suicide, and then Cpt. Awesome will have to explain everything to Ellie and they'll be stuck in the Witness Protection Program for the rest of their lives, and Casey will be unsatisfied as a meager citizen, and Morgan will be stuck as a loser at the Buy More FOREVER. Thanks tv guys. Really, thanks.

Actually, I love the show, and it's great. :) So, I don't expect you to understand, unless you watch it obviously. Amanda (my roomie) does at least, so she'll appreciate it.
Here are some good quotes:
Chuck: Morgan this is a bad idea.
Morgan: Well, we can't stay here Chuck.
Chuck: I'm uncomfortable with the plan.
Morgan: Plan? What plan? This is survival. (After hearing knocking at the door) That's her. We've been comprimised. I'm a ghost.
Chuck: Morgan, you can't leave me like this. You can't do this to me, man.
(Ellie walks in and turns on the light.)
Ellie: Chuck, what are you doing?
Chuck: Uh, escaping.
Ellie: From your own birthday party?
And another good one:
Morgan: Chuck, we have an emergency. We need to talk.
Chuck: I'm on the phone.
Morgan: Shhh, not here, not here, there are spies at the Buy More.
Chuck: (hangs up phone) Spies, really?
Morgan: Yeah, Tang's minions, they're everywhere! He's like the dark lord Sauron from Lord of the Rings. Only instead of the ring of power he's taken over control of the assistant managership.
Chuck: Yeah, from me, thanks for the reminder.
Morgan: You got it man. Look, we need your help Chuck.
Chuck: Me, what am I supposed to do? I'm just....
Morgan: One small hobbit? So thought Frodo Baggins, my friend, so thought Frodo Baggins!
And sorry, a couple more....Amanda (my roomie) will enjoy them.
Chuck: (pointing a gun at Casey) I know what I'm doing.
Casey: You have no idea. You're entering a world of pain, Chuck.
Chuck: I want this Intersect out of my head. Are you going to help me or not?
Casey: You gotta be...is that a tranq gun? You don't even have the common courtesy to threaten me with an actual firearm!
(after having food delivered to the car)
Casey: The idea behind a stakeout is to remain inconspicuous, you moron.
Chuck: Uh, hello? That's why I used an alias.

Just Thoughts About Life in General

First off, there are less than three weeks until finals! I would say "finally" but honestly, the semester has flown by. Looking back over the last few months, this semester has been really good. I've enjoyed pretty much all of my classes, even calculus honestly hasn't been horrible. It's been a lot of work, and so when I finally understand something it feels great. I like the satisfaction of working to understand something difficult and then actually getting it. Also, this is the semester that I've finally felt that Chemical Engineering is really what I want to do. I enjoy the material, and I think I'll really enjoy the challenge. This semester I've also been involved in my building/ward's dinner group. It's been great! The food is usually good, you get a real meal without any cooking 7 out of 8 days, and you get to actually sit down and eat with friends. I've quite enjoyed it. :)

So, a random thing: the other day when I was sitting in my calculus lecture, I was just thinking about how much I really do not like math, and how much the teacher truly enjoyed it. My sub was clearly having a nice time, and my usual professor is always bouncing around (literally) from her excitement of the "great problem!" :) Well, it occurred to me that since math is a good thing (it has helped in countless processes and solved many problems in our society) and there actually are people that think it's fun, then our Heavenly Father probably likes math too. I've just never thought about that before. He knows everything there is to know about math, and since it is a good thing, He probably likes it. It then made me think that throughout eternity, I'm going to have to learn everything there is to know about math. I mean, I thought I was done with math classes after next year, but really, I'll be doing math for eternity! ....Forever! I suppose I'll learn to like it, especially as my understanding of what I can do with it increases I probably won't mind it. But what a thing to realize in the middle of a never-ending calculus lecture when you're just looking forward to the end of that class! Well, later that day I was listening to some of my favorite movie soundtracks, when I realized that I would also get to study music for the rest of eternity. And since I get to do the good stuff forever, I figured I can deal with the math. :)

And on the plus side: I can leave my apartment without a coat at any time of the day, and I won't die of hypothermia! It's been really nice and balmy lately; I can't wait for summer in Provo. Warmth, fun, no school, game nights, tennis, basketball, friends. It'll be a blast!

YESSSSSSS!!

Finally. FINALLY! :) I have decided that I love chemical engineering, and it is definitely for me. Right now I'm doing a group project where we are building a car that is powered by a controlled chemical reaction. I really am enjoying it; it's so much fun! It's nice to be able to work as a team, cause you all can contribute and help each other. Plus, homework is always better with other people. I predicted correctly, and the math doesn't really bother me since there is a purpose to it. In a way I like that we have to do it, and that the problem is complicated enough we need to. And we get to do chemistry too, which is always interesting. :) I am happy tonight. It's such a relief to know for sure that you picked the right path for your future. It's about time!

Lookin' Hot...Granny Style!

So, Friday night Amanda, Raven, and I went to Savers (basically a Salvation Army). While browsing, we came across the most amazing dresses ever! They are so horrid. :) Well, we thought it would be great to get one for each of us (and Olive) to wear to church. ...Yes, we actually did do this. It was fun, though my dress was pretty much completely made of polyester, so a bit uncomfortable. And the top is short and the skirt kept falling down, which was dang annoying!

Haha, so yes, I do realize I am not good at posing as an old lady...but it was the best I could do! For some reason the crippled hands just seemed to fit.

Meet Phil. Phil is this grotesquely ugly chair. Amanda and I bought him for only $13! And he is quite comfortable. We named him Phil and have become pretty attached to him. :) Phil looks especially good with Amanda sitting in his lap in that old dress!!

Olympics are Coming!

So last night, I went to see a skiing competition with a couple of my roommates. I think it was a competition that helped them qualify for the Olympics next month, but I'm not sure really. It was a lot of fun to watch though! We saw the moguls competition, both women and men. Some of the men were crazy good! They went super fast and made it look like it was nothing, as they were doing crazy jumps too. :) All in all though, it was pretty exciting. I can't wait for the Olympics to be here!

One of the coolest parts was being so close to all of the professionals that are in the Olympics from all over the world. We were hanging out right next the Australians for a while...which was quite enjoyable. :) They were beautiful men. With accents.

Friendly Morning

So, as I was walking to school this morning (about a 15 minute walk to the edge of campus) some random guy started talking to me. He walked me all the way to my building, talking to me about my major, where I'm from, etc. He was tall (like 6'5"), interesting, and had very nice eyes. Considering there are about 34,000 students at BYU, I most likely will never see him again. But seriously...what a way to start the day! :) People are so friendly here, it's nice.

New Shift! :) and Other Very Exciting Things

I got the morning shift!!! For those that didn't know I was going for a new shift for work, I applied to work at Helaman Halls again, the 6-11 am shift. I applied, not knowing that they had actually already offered it to someone else. So that was lame, cause I thought I had a really good chance of getting the position, seeing that I was working for them (though at a different location) and also worked at Helaman Halls last year. Well, the guy that was offered the shift quit and now it is mine! :) It is quite perfect for me. Now on MWF I'll be done in the early afternoon with work AND classes. Then, tons of homework of course, but still. It's sweeeeeet.

Also, I'm taking a Polynesian Dance class. So far, it's amazing! It is so much fun, I'm pretty sure I was meant to be as a Polynesian. It just fills my soul with joy. The music is great, and ah. It's just a blast. Love that class! I will try to get a video of me dancing the routines so I can stick it on here. Next family reunion, you should let me teach you all and we can hula around on the beach. Can't you imagine little Lisette and Lily hula dancing? :) So cute. And the boys doing the war dances? Haha, I doubt we're going to learn those actually (or that the kids will want to do it.) But either way, it's fun to imagine.

My guitar class is going to be easy to ace, which will be nice, but it's going to be a ton of work to actually learn. I feel like I could pick up how to play another wind instrument pretty easily; the skills needed to play the wind instruments are pretty much the same with all of them. Guitar, however, is a different story! I have trouble putting my fingers on the strings when I'm lookin' at it! It is basically impossible to switch quickly between the chords. It'll come with time and practice, like anything does, but it'll be hard. Hopefully by the end of the semester I'll be able to play something, and I can play when we go camping. :)

Besides that: roommates are great, my ward is fabulous, and the mountains are big and covered in snow. Basically, I love it out here. :)
